FEBRUARY 24, 2015 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
We’re doing a number of events – from phone banks here in the city, to road trips to Wisconsin and the suburbs (the Sixth District to be precise), to a fun get together at the Red Lion, 4749 N. Rockwell, to watch the third and final presidential debate (hopefully as much fun as the second was …).
How do you let us know that you’d like to participate in one of these events? Here is a handy link which has the sign-ups for all these events (except the Red Lion: just show up for that one):
Wait a minute: that road trip to Wisconsin is this Saturday, October 20. What are the details? We’ll be leaving from the Walgreens parking lot near the Sheridan El stop on the Red Line (other stops being closed for the weekend …): we’ll meet at 9:30 am to leave for Wisconsin. Please let us know whether you can come and whether you can drive (we’ll help with the gas money). Who are we supporting in Wisconsin, you ask? Rob Zerban is running against Paul Ryan for US Congress, Tammy Baldwin is running for US Senate, and Barack Obama is running for President: we’ll be working with the coordinated campaign to get out the vote for all three of them. We’ll end the day going out for pizza, and some drivers may wish to stop at the Cheese Castle on the way back … so it should be a fun time for all!
Can’t make the road trip this weekend but still want to go up to Wisconsin? Here’s how: Obama for IL volunteers will be making trips to canvas in WI for Obama, Baldwin and Zerban each Saturday out of the Kenosha OFA office. Volunteers will be picked up at the Kenosha Metra at 12:15 and dropped back off at the Metra at 6:40pm post-canvass. The field office is at 3020 Roosevelt Rd., Kenosha, WI, which is just a few blocks from Metra. And if you can go up during the week – they’ll accept the help as well, with fervent thanks.
On Saturday, October 27 we’ll be going out to the 6th District, again leaving from the Walgreens parking lot by the Sheridan El stop on the Red Line. We’ll meet at 11 am to drive out to the 6th to support Leslie Coolidge, the Democrat running against the very right-wing and severely conservative incumbent Peter Roskam.
Again, whatever work you can do helps out tremendously. It all matters.
But wait, you say: I can’t actually volunteer for some very good reasons: can I give a little money instead? Why, yes, you can, if you feel so inclined: here is a link to donate to NDFA candidates on Act blue: https://secure.actblue.com/page/ndfa2012 - Money helps as well.
What if you’ve volunteered for events other than these that support our candidates: do those count for voting membership? Yes, they do: just let us know about them at NorthsideDFA@gmail.com.
Again, thanks for all you do: it makes a difference.
